ACDGC Needs Your Help!

The 2019 ACDGC Annual Meeting is this Saturday, January 12, 1 pm at the Wichita WATER Center in Herman Hill Park.  Our annual meeting is held primarily to select new board officers for the year, provide an accounting of ACDGC Funds and a summary of club activities in the previous year.

The ACDGC Board of Directors is comprised of 7 officer positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parks Liaison, Events Coordinator and Communications Director. The nominees are volunteers and must be approved by a majority the vote by at least 20% of the club membership as of December 31st of 2018.

This year there are just 5 ACDGC Members who have volunteered to stand for election to 5 positions on the board:

Levi Warren – Vice President

Joe Belsan – Treasurer

Bill Paulson – Parks Liaison

Marty Hunt – Events Coordinator

Jerry Sherwood – Communications Director

It is crucial to the survival of the Air Capital Disc Golf Club that we have enough members cast votes to select a board of directors for 2019. Following our 2018 Membership Drive we had accrued 150 ACDGC Members, that means we need at least 30 votes cast in to approve this year’s volunteers.

Votes may be cast in person or by proxy. Ballots can be downloaded, filled out and returned according to instructions at:

With approval of these 5 volunteers the board will consist of 5 members, 1 more than the required quorum to conduct ACDGC Business. This will provide the board with the authority to fill the remaining two positions according to by-law rules regarding the selection of ACDGC members to fill officer positions that become vacant during a current year.

Please keep in mind. Failure to select an ACDGC Board of Directors could mean the dissolution of the club and the ramifications of that could well mean an end or at least a severe curtailing to disc golf tournaments for years to come at Wichita Disc Golf Parks. Why? Because it is through the volunteer contributions of club members in time and money over the years that has allowed us to form a partnership with the Wichita Parks and Recreation Department that allows us to obtain waivers of the usual fees to rent and reserve these facilities. Those fees are substantial, up to $250 a day per park.

There are numerous other benefits of having a strong and active disc golf club in Wichita pertaining to the creation and maintenance of disc golf facilities in Wichita and the surrounding area. To understand how much that matters just consider that all of the major courses in the city, Derby, and Colwich would probably exist if not for the ACDGC. Furthermore, the club has played a major role in establishing the course in Park City and helped in the efforts to establish the course in Eldorado.

So, please support us at this crucial time as the new board for 2019 tackles some of the real issues that need to be resolved to maintain a healthy and effective organization. If you were a paid ACDGC Member for 2018 (this includes those who joined during the membership drive in October) come to our meeting on Saturday or download, fill out and deliver your ballot today. And, if you have issues, recommendations or concerns about the ACDGC please let us know. That is the only way we can work together and improve the ACDGC.

Thank You,

Jerry Sherwood
